The grand opening ceremony was graced by the Japan Ambassador to Malaysia, Takahashi Katsuhiko and Director General Dato’ Dr. Ammar, Tourism Malaysia, Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture Malaysia.

The event collaborates with partners Pavilion Bukit Jalil, organized by G-Yu Creative Co. Ltd, the founder of Japan Expo Thailand and co-organized by Siam Connection Sdn Bhd,
The goal of Japan Expo Malaysia (JEMY) is to bridge a closer tie between the two nations’ cultural and trade as well as to be the most comprehensive physical exhibition for Japan related to Japanese products and services.

The event is divided into SEVEN distinctive zones: the Taste of Japan zone (Piazza area & outdoor) while the Indoor area spreading from Centre Court to the Orange Zone.
The outdoor Taste of Japan features drinks from renowned brands: Oyoshi and delighful array of Japanese delicacies including mochi ice-cream, takoyaki, Ajinomoto new gyoza, Otafuku’s special recipe of okonomiyaki and Shakariki432s’ well-known yakitori grilled with Binchotan charcoal. Additionally, Zeal Automation Vending Machines cater to Japanese F7B importers, providing a convenient distribution channel closers to consumers.

Meanwhile the Centre Court houses the Travel Zone, showcasing exciting destinations. Klook, a renowned travel platform offers exclusive travel packages for Japan-bound traveler, and in collaboration with Tourism Malaysia, visitors can also explore Malaysia wanders.
The vibrant Orange Zone on Level 2 is a hub for arts and cultural where visitors can participate in the Yukata wearing activity. There is also Education Zone , where visitors can get a free consultation from Globis University and learning Japanese language at Mainichi Japanese Language school. Oakhouse provides well-options for students or working adults planning to stay long-term in Japan. There is also Health and Beauty Zone and Feng-Shui Zone.
Cosplay Parade

For the first time, a Cosplay Contest was held with renowned fashion designer, Melinda Looi with cosplayers Thames and Amelia as judges.
Cosplayers can bring their characters to life against the backdrop of Tokyo Town’s various engaging and Instagrammable design features and architectural decor elements including two larger than life artistic Sumo Sculptures, a Grand Floating Temple Roof designed with ‘kirizuma-zukuri, Giant Japanese umbrella ‘Wagasa’ designed by renowned Japanese artist Kotaro Nishibori, Japanese lanterns and many more.
J-pop & Cultural Performances

JEMY 2023 offers promising dazzling lineup performances with unique blend of traditional artistry and contemporary performances including from sensational performers, Naomichi Hanazono, a renowned Japanese dancer and singer.

Visitors will be enthralled by the performances of Ballistik Boyz from EXILE TRIBE and Physic Fever. With incredible singing voices, mind-blowing choreography, it will create an unforgettable memories. The immersive talenyed Sakurazaka46 will also gracing the stage for the first time in Malaysia. This sister group will showcased their exceptional talent and unique style.
Beside these three, audiences will also be entertained by Banzai Japan, SUPERDRAGON, Natsume and team, AMEFURASSHI, XLAMP and many more.

Visitors also can participate in fee Kendo workshops, immerse themselves in the art of Japanese swordsmanship and watching the Kyudo Archery demonstrations.
