
The highlight of this business forum and expo was the direct, open engagement with Uganda’s top decision makers in Finance, Agriculture, Energy and Foreign Affairs.

They are:
- Hon. Matia Kasaija-Minister of Finance and Economic Development
- Hon. Ruth Nankabirwa Ssentamu-Minister of Energy and Mineral Developement
- Hon. Frank Tumwebaze-Minister of Agriculture, Animal Industry and Fisheries

The forum and expo also presented firsthand insights into Uganda’s investment policies, sector priorities and economic development roadmaps, providing opportunities for Malaysian investors to tap into Uganda’s vast riches. This is expected to lead to the betterment and uplifting of the economies of both countries.

Uganda’s economy is currently anchored by agriculture, contributing 53% of export earnings and employing 733% of the population.. Rapidly growing are agro-processing, organic fertilizer production, mineral exploration including (gold, copper and lithium) and energy development with the forum and expo zooming into emerging opportunities of particularly:

- The industrial parks and special economic zones (Manave, Mbale, Kapeeka)
- Free Trade Zones in Jinja and Entebbe
- The oil and gas corridor in the Albertine Graben
With Malaysia’s export to Uganda reaching USD250million and growing interest in sectors such as agriculture, tourism, energy and minerals, the forum and expo poised to deepen trade relationship and introduce Uganda as a rising investment destination in East Africa.
