The guests were welcomed with arrays of refreshment, made with Puratos’s range of bakery items and hand-crafted Real Belgian Citrus Fromage shots.

Belgian chocolate enjoys an extraordinary reputation in the world. For Puratos, chocolate has always been a passion. It was a clear choice to cherish the Belgian tradition of manufacturing chocolate and to invest in producing chocolate in Belgium even when its products are sold in over 100 countries in the world.
Paving the pathway to a sustainable future for the chocolate industry

After the launched event, was the sharing session led by Luc-Olivier Rahier, Product Manager of Real Chocolate, Puratos Belgium where he shared on Belcolade’s product range, especially on how it’s interlinked to The Cacao-Trace Sustainable Cocoa program, Great Taste, Doing Good.

“Belcolade combines sensory expertise and sustainability to craft quality products that drive our customers’ success while securing a sustainable future for generations to come. The Cacao-Trace chocolate takes taste to a whole new level of excellence thanks to a unique fermentation process that guarantees the best cocoa quality and enhances the flavors of every chocolate drop. Doing Good is our focus so Cacao-Trace farmers benefit from the value they create. Our unique Chocolate Bonus and Quality Premium result in life changing impact for our cocoa farmers”

Alongside these impactful sustainable initiatives on the cocoa supply chain, Belcolade is the first carbon-neutral Belgian chocolate factory, operating on 100% renewable electricity, eliminating the need for fossil fuels. Thanks to extensive underground rainwater storage, it will source 90% of its water from collected rainwater.

Belcolade has made substantial investments to enhance their energy efficiency, reliability, and resilience against droughts by revamping all technical energy installations, storage, and distribution. Thanks to heat recovery and the utilization of cutting-edge heat pump technology, Belcolade’s heat production process now consumes five times less energy than before.
Alongside these impactful sustainable initiatives, Belcolade’s new 100% recycle-ready packaging reflects the company’s determination to reduce its environmental footprint and make a positive impact on the planet.
