● Deepening user engagement:
a) Shopee also scaled up its in-app games from only Shopee Shake in 2018 to over 15 games to-date. Popular games that were introduced in 2019 were Shopee Quiz and Shopee Catch.
b) 2019 was the year that Shopee introduced live stream feature called Shopee Live, to keep the Shopee experience entertaining, engaging and social, bringing users high quality content such as the Datuk Seri Siti Nurhaliza mini concert presented by Shopee and SIMPLYSITI, Ask-Me-Anything (AMA) with Cristiano Ronaldo, the exciting Piala FA finals, the much anticipated Ombak Rindu The Series and more.
c) As a result of the tech enhancements and interactive content on the platform, the amount of time users spent on the App has doubled. ● Collaboration:

c) To support the Government’s quest to boost the country’s digital economy by empowering local entrepreneurs, Shopee struck a partnership with the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs to promote the Buy Malaysian Campaign (BMC). Prior to BMC on Shopee, only 196 orders were made for Buatan Malaysia products daily. This figure rose significantly to 845 orders daily, marking an uplift of 331%.
d) To help digitise rural Malaysia, Shopee inked a Memorandum of Understanding with the Ministry of Rural Development and Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC) to provide rural entrepreneurs with the necessary knowledge and skills to operate an online store, as well as a platform for them to market and sell their products.

“We recorded stellar performance on all fronts of our business throughout the year, with robust shopping activities during the second half of the year. This was supported by major shopping festivals such as 9.9, 11.11 and 12.12. Our volumes have been steadily increasing campaign to campaign. Hence, the appointment of Ninja Van was imperative in order for us to ensure that our users are able to get their parcels on time,” said Ian Ho, Regional Managing Director of Shopee.

Commenting on the industry’s landscape, Ho added that there is a lot more potential for the e-commerce industry in Malaysia to grow. “Seeing as e-commerce contribution to total retail is still below 3%, and very much at its infancy, there is a lot more work to be done. Alena Murang Launched Her New Music Video

An independent musician of Kelabit heritage from Sarawak, Alena launched her ‘Midang Midang’ music video at GSC Quill City Mall on 27 November 32019.

With her focus on bringing native songs and stories to global stages, together with “Project Room” production team, the launched event was made possible with the collaboration with GSC and supporting partners including the Sarawak Tourism Board, Miri City Council, Marriott Resort Miri dan Kanid Studio. The music video was co-produced with Project Room, a KL based production house.

“Heritage songs are such an important way to keep our language, values and stories alive. Our Kelabit songs almost always have elements of nature, and that is why this time it was so important for us to film on the land in which the song came from-Miri and Bario village.”

The music video showcased an ancestral Kelabit song in a contemporary way, demonstrating adaptations of Kelabit music, dance and land and Sarawak fashion: with the likes of LANA, Maatin Shakir, Von Jolly Couture, Atelier Karl jimmy, TeeCode, Wan Bynun, Neng Kho Razali, Raben Beads and Tanoti being donned by the star. Each film department was led by Orang Ulu youths, proving once again that heritage  has a contemporary home.

SUNWAY PALS Annouced Partnership With Enrich

It is the first strategic partnership between these two organisation ti benefit avid members through points exchange collaboration.

Starting from 13 November, the conversion initiative members of both programmes to put their Enrich Miles or Sunway Pals Points for an expanding array of rewards and hence getting more value from their programme. With the collaboration, Enrich members will be able to use their miles at Sunway’s establishments and Sunway Pals members will be able to use their points to redeem for travel and lifestyle rewards.

 

Sunway Group Executive Vice President of President’s Office, Evan Cheah said:

“With the Visit Malaysia Year of 2020 around the corner, inbound and domestic travellers will be able to optimise their reward options exponentially.

Sunway Pals members can now convert their points for Enrich Miles and redeem flights on Malaysia Airlines, Firefly, MASwings, oneworld alliance airlines, partner airlines and for other Enrich lifesyle rewards. Meanwhile Enrich members can convert their miles to Sunway Pals Points and shop at Sunway’s malls with over 1,000 merchants, play in Sunway’s theme parks, stay in Sunway’s hotels and seek health screening in Sunway’s medical centres. The partnership will strengthen loyalty for both Sunway Pals and Enrich members whilst enhancing the overall customer experience”.

According to Malaysia Airlines Group Chief Marketing an Customer Experience Officer, Lau yin May:

“The partnership with Sunway Pals loyalty programme provides our Enrich members more choices in how to spend their accumulated miles beyond travel-based redemptions with the option of shopping at the partner merchants under the Sunway banner.

This partnership also further cements Malaysia Airlines’s larger goal of Fly Malaysia, the campaogn that we aim to share the beauty of Malaysia in its culture, nature and people. Fly Malaysia also aims to promote travel by leveraging on creating a uniquely Malaysia travel experience for the travellers.”

The launched event event also saw special rewards for new members who signed up for either of the loyalty programmes. Enrich and Sunway will embark on more jint promotions in the future aimed at strengthening customer loyalty whilst enhancing the overall member experience.
