Ia adalah majlis konvokesyen pertama seumpamanya yang diraikan oleh McDonalds’ di Akademi Vokasional McDonald’s baharu yang terletak di McDonald’s Pandu-Lalu Mutiara Damansara.

Program Perantis Vokasional McDonald’s merupakan sebahagian daripada usaha McDonald’s Malaysia dalam meningkatkan piawaian pembangunan modal insan syarikat dan memupuk bakat baharu dalam kalangan belia, sejajar dengan agenda negara. Ini adalah komitmen kami sebagai sebuah syarikat global yang mempunyai reputasi kukuh dalam industri perkhidmatan makanan,” kata Azmir Jaafar, Pengarah Urusan dan Rakan Operasi Tempatan, McDonald’s Malaysia.

Program Perantis Vokasional McDonald’s merupakan program latihan berteraskan industri selama 18 bulan menggabungkan 70 peratus latihan praktikal di restoran McDonald’s dan 30 peratus kelas teori di bilik darjah. Ia merupakan kerjasama McDonald’s Malaysia dan Kementerian Sumber Manusia Malaysia berdasarkan Sistem Latihan Dual Nasional (SLDN) yang telah diperkenalkan Kementerian. Sebaik sahaja belia-belia ini tamat latihan, mereka dianugerahkan dengan Sijil Kemahiran Malaysia (SKM) Tahap 3 yang diiktiraf oleh Kementerian Sumber Manusia Malaysia, dan seterusnya layak mengembangkan lagi kerjaya mereka di McDonald’s atau dalam industri perkhidmatan makanan di negara ini.

“Sebagai pemimpin industri, kami ingin menjadikan McDonald’s sebagai platform atau asas untuk golongan belia di Malaysia membina kerjaya yang bermakna. Ini adalah tempat untuk mereka mempelajari kemahiran-kemahiran sepanjang hayat, memenuhi potensi diri dan terus menaiki tangga kerjaya dalam industri perkhidmatan makanan, bukan sahaja di peringkat tempatan, malahan di arena antarabangsa. Apa yang paling penting adalah bagaimana mereka mampu menyelami budaya McDonald’s yang sangat menitikberatkan kualiti dalam segenap aspek perniagaannya, pada masa sama membina hubungan rapat dalam keluarga besar McDonald’s,” tambah Azmir.

Program Perantis Vokasional McDonald’s mula diperkenalkan pada tahun 2018, dan sehingga kini, secara keseluruhan terdapat lebih 1,200 belia di seluruh negara telah dan sedang mengikuti program ini. McDonald’s Malaysia optimis mencapai sasaran 5,000 perantis menjelang penghujung tahun ini.

“Pihak Kementerian sangat berterima kasih kepada McDonald’s Malaysia kerana tampil ke hadapan menawarkan kepakaran mereka dalam bidang perkhidmatan makanan. McDonald’s Malaysia merupakan satu-satunya restoran khidmat segera yang melaksanakan inisiatif perkongsian pengetahuan seperti ini, sekaligus menambah nilai kepada program-program latihan kemahiran sedia ada yang ditawarkan, khususnya melibatkan kerjasama industri. Hal ini juga amat bertepatan dengan usaha kerajaan untuk mengatasi isu pengangguran belia melalui galakan terhadap penyertaan Pendidikan Latihan Teknikal dan Vokasional (TVET).” kata YBhg. Dato’ Amir.

Belia-belia yang mengikuti program ini ditaja sepenuhnya oleh McDonald’s Malaysia, termasuklah pemberian elaun bulanan RM1,200, tempat tinggal, faedah perubatan dan insurans, serta makanan percuma. Secara keseluruhan, McDonald’s Malaysia membelanjakan RM30,000 untuk seorang perantis.

McDonald’s Malaysia yang mempunyai lebih 14,000 kakitangan di seluruh negara memberi keutamaan dalam membangunkan bakat dan kecekapan tenga kerja. Selain daripada Program Perantis Vokasional McDonald’s, syarikat khidmat segera ini juga memperkenalkan inisiatif-inisiatif lain seperti Program Perantis Pengurusan McDonald’s dan Program Sarjana Pengurusan Perniagaan dengan Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM).

The First McDonalds In Malaysia Is Now ‘Mekdi’ As Part of Celebrating Merdeka Day

Besides that, McDonalds Malaysia also introduces Nasi Lemak McD as part of the Merdeka Day celebration and 37 years of being Malaysian.

The signage for Mekdi, which is the localised nickname for ‘McD’, short for McDonald’s – is now prominently displayed at McDonald’s Bukit Bintang restaurant, the very first McDonald’s to open its doors in Malaysia back in 1982.

“Over the past 37 years, Malaysians have helped make McDonald’s Malaysia the recognised brand that it is today. As a gesture of appreciation for their continuous support, we decided to embrace the Mekdi name Malaysians have affectionately given us, which is now synoymous with our brand,” said Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer of McDonald’s Malaysia, Melati Abdul Hai.

In celebration of all things Malaysian this month, McDonald’s Malaysia has also introduced Nasi Lemak McD, its own version of a dish beloved by so many Malaysians. The meal comes complete with fragrant coconut rice, crispy anchovies, fresh cucumber, and fried egg, topped with spicy sambal. Customers can also maximise their meal experience by adding on Ayam Goreng McD and a cup of Iced Lemon Tea.

Recognising the popularity of Nasi Lemak amongst Malaysians, McDonald’s Malaysia has also initiated a nationwide petition on Change.org to rally for Nasi Lemak to be officially recognised as the national dish of Malaysia, with a target of gathering 1 million signatures by Malaysia Day (16 September). Nasi Lemak McD is now available in all McDonald’s Malaysia restaurants nationwide and will be a permanent item on McDonald’s menu, available 24 hours a day.

The Nasi Lemak McD set is only RM5.99 during breakfast hours and is served with an Iced Milo. During regular hours, the set is priced at RM12.99 with 1 piece of Ayam Goreng McD and an Iced Lemon Tea, while it is RM15.99 for 2 pieces of Ayam Goreng McD and an Iced Lemon Tea.

McDonald’s Malaysia – Malaysian at Heart
