The Cantonese pronunciation of giving Mandarin oranges-Somg Kam” is the same as “giving gold”, therefore it signifies wishing prosperity upon the recipient. The Lunar New Year celebration is also about family and we appreciate the traditional values that come with it. It reminds us of our roots and family is an irreplaceable wealth.
